Covert Dynamics was founded in 2013 by law enforcement professionals with years of covert operations experience. Covert Dynamics provided training at several locations around the Midwest, but is now based in Tampa, Florida. Training at other locations is available upon request.
In addition to live-fire training, Covert Dynamics offers a newly designed force-on-force based curriculum, Dynamic Force Concepts. Using professional grade, non-lethal training ammunition (NLTA) and firearms, this training exposes the armed citizen to a level of reality-based skill development that is typically available to LE and MIL personnel.
Designed for the Armed Citizen
Covert Dynamics' handgun and carbine training courses are specifically designed to provide armed citizens with ongoing firearms and gun fighting skill development. Our training is presented in the context of the real-life needs of the armed citizen. Follow our Facebook page for class announcements.
Founder & Lead Instructor
Scott is a special agent for a large federal agency and is currently assigned as a senior liaison to the Department of Defense. He has over 25 years of law enforcement experience, including over 20 years operating in plain clothes and covert/undercover capacities. Scott was previously employed by the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service and spent 10 years as a police officer and detective for a large police department in Missouri. Drawing from his considerable experience, including deadly force confrontations, Scott presents all of his classes in a real-world context.
Scott is a Range Master certified Handgun Instructor, a SIG Academy Master Handgun and Rifle Instructor, a Centrifuge Training Vehicle CQB instructor, a UTM instructor (force-on-force), and is both a firearms and defense tactics instructor for his agency. Besides his considerable experince, Scott also draws from training with great instructors like Robert Vogel, Pat McNamara, Frank Proctor, John McPhee, Tom Givens, Mike Pannone, Will Petty, Scott Jedlinski, Steve Fisher, and Mike Green. Scott is an active competition shooter with a current focus on USPSA.

Covert Dynamics offers several levels of handgun training beginning with our flagship course Defensive Handgun 1. This course includes one of our most popular training blocks, Mental Preparation of Armed Confrontation.
Defensive Handgun 2 is a shooting-only class to expose the client to more challenging shooting requirements and standards.

Defensive Handgun 2 is a shooting-only class to expose the client to more challenging shooting requirements and standards. This includes establishing a performance matrix on several standard drills to track individual perfomance.

Covert Dynamics' base-level carbine class, Defensive Carbine 1, provides the client with a fondation of skills utilizing the AR-15 platform.
Defensive Carbine 2 builds on the first course and provides the client exposure to an additional level of skills and challenging shooting drills/requirements.
